BRUSHES and SPRINGS
There are several variations of Brushes and
Springs used from 1946 to 1966.
In 1946/47 the motor brush bracket (57A)
used round brushes (58A) with a slot and
a lever type spring (71A), Kit No. K58A.
Also used on 3/16 "O", 1938-1941.
In 1948, a round
brush with a smaller diameter shoulder (58)
and a coil spring (71) was used in (57) brush
bracket, began, Kit No. K58.
Later 5 digit style engines use a square
brush (175), this type brush is inserted
from the side, it has a barrel type armature
commutator.
The last steam engines, "Casey Jones"
style 21165 etc., use the (58A) round brush
with slot.
There are several engines with the same model
number, that use different brushes and springs.
